volunteering at my locol food pantry

I voluntered at my local food pantry and I'll tell you how it
went. First I had to ask permision to volunter fron a boss.Once
I got permision to volunter they gave me a tour of their food
pantry. They asked if I ever cooked or helped in the kitchen? I
said No except my home kitchen. Then I got handed a date and
time to come back. One week later I was on my way back to
cook but I was so nervous not sure how this was going to go.
Walked in right away you wash your hands and put gloves and a
apron on.They did not waste anytime before I was cooking on
the stove.

One of the frist thing I did as a volunter was cook pulled pork,
pees and tater tots. Then we made about 30 plates. I made
the plates by to putting pulled pork on buns, 12 tater tots
per plate and a nice seving of pees.At 4:00 pm they opened
the doors and the clients came in and stared taking the
plates we prepared. Around 4:15pm they call anyone up to get
seconds and soon after we would satrt clean up.

Clean up time stated at 4:30pm after seconds where over. It
was pretty easy you rinse the pots and pans out and they have a
neat machine you can set them in an it reaches a hot temp with
soap and sterilizes them. There are about 12 tables you got to
wipe each one down. There is usually two peoplecooking
together each so it makes things go pretty smooth when it
comes to clean up time. I really had alot of fun and
everyone was very friedly was not what I expected at all.
Everyone should look in to some kind of vouluteering especially
at food pantries that nervouse feeling you get turns in to a
weird feel of that made me feel pretty good.
